I married at the age of 19 and had all of my kids by the age of 23. I can say the only thing that came out good from the marriage was the kids.

I picked the wrong guy. He had many problems that at 19, I was not equipped to deal with. I think when you are young, you don't have the right experience to deal with the problems that marriage and children give you.

I married for the second time at 37. What was different? I did pick the right guy. I knew what I wanted and what I could honestly deal with.

The only advantages of an early marriage is that now at 40 is that my 2 youngest children will be in college in 2 years and I can look forward to retirement at a relatively young age with my husband.

Should a person get married at 19 or 20? My honest opinion is no. Living with someone is so much tougher than you would think.

I married at 22, some say that's young-ish. Advantage? I can build a quality of life with my partner and develope a lifestyle we want for our future children. Plus, we can get on the property ladder at a younger age as the prices are booming in the UK (so finanically we'll be better off at middle age).

You can enjoy plenty of sex while your hormones are still raging!, so don't have to worry about you man having an afair with a youngier prettier woman, although infidelity can still happen.

I would say that it also makes you think more responsibly, like investing for the future with your spouse at an early age, whereas when you are celibate you think less about the future and enjoy more.

You can grow together, assuming that you do grow together and not apart. My parents were married very young and they were 40 and we were all out of the house. So they are able to really enjoy their life together now as more mature people with a little more money.
