What? Perhaps you should add some details, so we can decipher your question. Are you putting stucco over red brick. Who has an outhouse these days? Most people have indoor plumbing these days.

First, best use a cement mixer, hand mixing is never really good enough. The scratch coat should be stronger than the second coat. I would recommend mix for your first coat as 3 sand to 1 cement, and your second coat use 4 to 1, or 5 to 1. I would also use a plasticiser in both mix's it makes spreading on the wall so much easier. Plastering is not an easy skill to master, but good luck anyway.

if its a brick outhouse why would you want to cover it with ugly stucco? repoint the bad joints and enjoy it. havent you heard the expression built like a brick shithouse
