I had two unnecessary Cesareans. It is a long story, but not unusual as most Cesareans that are done in this country are not necessary. My surgeries went perfectly fine and I had no complications. The nurses said I recovered a lot faster than most C/S patients and I had minimal pain. (This is the exception, however, and not the norm based on the experiences of friends.)

Now For Some Food For Thought
One of the most common reasons that OBs give for Cesarean is cephalopelvic disproportion (baby too big, pelvis too small). You know, like yours? A chiropractor in one of the books I am recommending that you read said that doctors don't realize (or they don't tell patients because they want the $$$ from Cesareans) that the pelvis is made to elasticize during delivery. WHEN THE TIME COMES, the pelvis will do its job. You should really read these books.

I just found out yesterday that I am expecting again. I will again attempt a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) Home Delivery because I educated myself about hospitals and Obs. Cesareans are risky and they are too often considered as the "easy way out."

These are a couple of really good books that helped me in my search for the truth about Cesareans and VBAC. If your doctor is telling you that you need a Cesarean, then you owe it to yourself and to your baby to find out (exactly the reason) why and if he is really being honest with you. It is a sad fact, but birthing babies in this country is a business. Many hospitals/doctors prefer C/S for the money, not for the health benefits. Once you read these books, you'll know why. If this is your first Cesarean, then it is not too late to learn the NECESSARY reasons for Cesareans and the risks that are involved. If you have one Cesarean, it will affect the way you have the rest of your babies.

I had many complications when I had my son vaginally 5 years ago, so when I got the option for a c-section with my daughter I was excited. I regret it now, I would go though a day of pain and contractions anyday before I would go through 2 weeks of pain from a c-section. They didn't give me any pain medicine after I left the hospital, I couldn't barely walk, I couldn't stand up without help, I had to sleep sitting up, I was in constant pain. When I had a vaginal delivery, I was up and going the next day. I was still hurting nearly 2 weeks after my c-section and now, 3 weeks later I feel like my old self again, but my belly is still numb all around the incision and a couple of spots still hurt to touch. Some go good, some don't, I just thought you would want a negative point of view also.

I've had two c-sections, and they both went fine. Luckily, you are certainly more prepared for the second one since you know exactly what to expect from your body. If you are planning on having a c-section, I have two words of advice for you. 1. Don't let the pain get out of control-always take pain meds when you are able to if you even think you MIGHT need them. Once the pain gets bad, it's hard to get it back under control. 2. Get out of bed and walk. While it's super painful to get up out of bed the first time after surgery, once you are able to do it without a nurse's help, get up and walk. It really does help with the pain. Good luck!

Oh yeah, C-section babies have cute, perfectly shaped heads, no cone-heads here!

I had a c-section in July, It went well except they burned my stomach with the laser, and my son pooped in me. But they got it all out and sewed me up. I am currently pregnant again. And I know that I will have to have another one. I have to say I am not disappointed either. I got to see my son come out, And was able to hold him as soon as I got out of recovery. There was no pain and no pushing and no worry that I wouldn't be able to push all the way. And the next day I felt fine and I got to go home the same amount of time as a women who had giving vaginal birth.

I had one first time round due to twins being premature and breech, the birth itself went fine and I recovered well although I did want to opt for a normal delivery with my third child and I have to say recovery this time round was much easier
