why do americans constantly put down canadians?

From what i watch on american tv or read from american media, americans always think canadians are idiots, never portraying them in the good light and always making them seem inferior.

I always read on the net that americans say that canadians expect america to defend canada in any attack when the truth is canada has a very capable army and can take care of itself.

Also that canada is very lucky that they can take advantage of america's good economy, doesn't everyone in the world want to take advantage of america's economy. In fact america's economy is good because of the rest of the world.

Also i read that america often ignore canada, if this is true why make fun of them so much and why is canada your largest trading partner if you are really ignoring them.

I am not a canadian. this is just an obeservation. why treat canadians like that it is not fair to them, it is even disrespectful.

I don't. American media is extremely biased so please don't be judging american's based on what you see or read in the media.

I'm a United States citizen and I don't hate Canada or any people from Canada. Matter of fact I've visited Canada more than once and find it to be a remarkably clean country with very friendly people. I don't care for the cold Canadian air that gets sent down my way each winter though...that I can do without!!!!

Canada and US look like brothers in a family. Sometime Americans have jokes (or put downs) Canadians, and it is normal. I also observe that those jokes are friendly jokes and are often used by entertainment shows.

In a politic, we always see Canada as a very friendly neighbor.

Why do people who watch way too much television try and group everyone in to a group because that's what they see on the idiot tube? What you see there is not real. It's mostly all fantasy. Don't you know that?

look at the location of canada, its like right on top of the usa, like the hicky on the neck of someone, that you cant just get rid of, the majority of americans, feel that way about canada, the reason being goes back to the dawn of time, and is the same in every culture that has ever existed, just think about this, if it wasnt for austria being on the borderline of germany, would world war two have even happened, or the persian wars, if you want to go right back to those days. people have always blamed someone else for their own faults, and insecurities, its in our nature as humans. americans tend to be stupid, overweight, war mongers, or thats the stereotypical idea of americans.... stereotypes are what are to blame, and the opinions in peoples minds. brought on by the media, and such things.

From what I have seen the pepole that make the most fun of Canada is pepole from Canada who are in the entertainment busness. I think if the are from Canada, they have a right to do so.

Cause Canada is in the British Commonwealth and the US is not. They think that they were never been a colony.
