It is great for the sport. Hopefully it will get more media attention. Soccer is much more exciting and requires a lot more skill than most of the popular sports in the US.

I'm glad he's coming to the US. David Beckham is a professional player who is going to play his best at the LA Galaxy. He already said in his initial interviews that he's not doing it for the money (I think he's very rich already even without this deal plus he got several offers from other teams.). He's doing it for the challenge and the opportunity to encourage kids to play soccer. I believe him. I also believe that he still has the skills to show off at the MLS.
I don't think soccer is ever going to be as popular in US as baseball, football, and basketball. But more people are going to be exposed to soccer because of Beckham's arrival.

The woman up above me is an idiot!! There are more people that like soccer than that, soccer is the worlds sport lady. To answer your question I think it is all a hoax there is no reason for david beckham to join a so/so team when he can make double the money he will get paid, if he chooses to model or something.

Beckham is just a pretty face and has been his whole career. Hes never been the worlds best.. Hes only good on "dead ball" situations.. When the ball is dead like in a free kick, corner kick. Thats about it.
The difference will likely be an initial interest spike in the first month or year.. Then after that US will go back to its usual coverage of the sport.

Beckham is still a good player. He is only 31. He still has another 4 years left in him. It will be a good fit for the LA Galaxy, who have to compete with the Lakers, Kings, Dodgers and those Anaheim teams for fan dollars.

Well, yeah Beckham going to L.A. Galaxy will attract non soccer lovers to go to stadiums just to watch him. But for me I think he is just going there for MONEY not to play soccer. Keteku P

Beck ham will make a difference, I think other players will follow and eventually he will also help the pay rate go up for current players! He is a great player who was just benched at Real Madrid, that's where was given a bad rep, just like other players in that team! He still young and i hope he does well.

David Bekham is an overpayed as;shole. Why does everyone fawn over him like he is a king or something. In his 'golden years' at man u, he wasn't the best player around. All he could do was wait and curl freekicks and corners in. Players like Henry, Viera, Giggs, Gerard were a million times better than him.
David bekham gives football a bad name and he should just sod of or die.
