This is not a new problem the beer in a saucer works fairly well and sweetened water with yeast works as well. One thing that is common yet lethal to slugs is caffine. Coffee grinds around plants helps as well as pouring coffee on the plants the stimulation of caffine causes the slugs to have accelerated heart beat and die. The coffee also works as a deterant and slugs avoid it so even a diluted spray of coffee causes slugs to avoid the plant or area. Coffee poured around plants will cause the slugs to come to the surface from underground where they were eating on the roots. There are some questions simular to this on several organic seed and garden websites and the coffee is considered best in small areas like flower gardens or square foot gardens. Hope this provides some assistance to you.

dig a lil hole next to the plants you want to save from being eaten by the snails
put a small icecream container into the hole and fill it up with beer half way
the snails are attracted to the beer and fall in and die
works wonders and your plants wont get damaged

I don't know of any, but try these tricks...diatomous (sp?) earth around plants, placing tinfoil collars around stems, or diligent picking. (of snails, not flowers)

try laying bare copper wire in their path - they get an electric shock from it!

you don't wire it up to anything - it's just the conductivity that works.
