Everybody lies to a certain degree in life right from the president of united states to pope or your pop. Because every traditions, culture and religion is made up of certain rigidities. We need to play by rules for this at times a lie helps. Everybody is trying to do the best to survive and overcome the barriers surrounding them. So lies are as essential and healthy part of life as truth. Believe it or not philosophy says lies are required at situations its better than truth. So we need to know when to use truth and when to lie. There are no one as liars or no one as a truthful person. A person can have the qualities of integrity, so people trust. It doesnt mean the person is truthful. Being happy is a state of mind. Sometimes people like to be sad. Its simple like that.

I think it's a mistake to lump all liars into a single category and then to further generalize them by stating that they can never be happy.
In the past, I used to lie a bit here and there, especially around strangers, because the other people had no idea. I was creating an alternative reality that these strangers had no choice but to believe in. What were the chances that I was ever going to meet these people again? If I did meet them again, would they necessarily remember what exactly I said that I wouldn't be able to blame on being misheard or misunderstood? What it ends up being is a harmless little game... at least in this instance.
There are those who choose to lie because they are ashamed of their own particular circumstances and the lie is the only way they have of increasing their esteem in other peoples' eyes. Then there are those who lie so that they seem better than to whomever they are speaking. These types could either be happy or not... it would still be an individual evaluation of each liar to determine happiness.
It seems like what thing you're trying to ask is, Do liars lie because they are unhappy? Then the answer is, Yes and No. Some liars lie because they are unhappy with their life and circumstances. Other liars may not be unhappy but see a chance to seemingly "better" themselves in someone elses' eyes.

There you go you just answered your own question.lol
You didn't say liars can only be happy when they lie nor did you say liars can never be happy when they lie.
So I think this is fallacy of false assumption.
since Liars can never be happy ( valid complete sentence)
since you used the adverb 'why' then you're going to need the objective clause supporting the adverb.
e.g. Liars can never be happy when they lie
objectively we can say: Liars can never be happy when they don't lie
But in your case, you are basically driving at an assumption that liars can never be happy (by, about which, where etc) followed by another assumption off tangent/not derived from the first.
So I cannot validly answer your question. Objectively I could by saying: Liars can never be happy that is why they lie.

Who says they can never be happy? Surely that is what makes pathological liars lie in the first place- they do it because they find satisfaction in what that lie brings about.
Often, once a person starts to lie it may be a small, unintentional lie that came about accidentally but that lie may have bought with it rewards (like the attention of others) and this can lead to a path of deceit- it's almost like an OCD whereby it is beyond their control but the more they lie, the harder it is to stop.

usually they are very insecure and want to look better. Once you start a lie it is very hard to get out of it. There are times when you might have to lie- if you are going to hurt someones feelings and would serve no other purpose by doing that then a little white lie would be ok Say for instance they are wearing something that you would never be caught dead in but they love I would say something nice if I were asked

Usually when people lie, they are coming from fear. Fear of being looked down, fear of not having enough, fear of not good enough etc. When one makes a decision from fear, it is never be the right one. Philosophically speaking, they may not live a happy life because they are not being authentic. However some may appear happy because they are either numb out or not even realize it.

I would not say they are incapable of happiness. all are capable. They merely walk an ill thought out life.
Why? Laziness, the easy way. They believe, as do many people, the easy way is the best way. however, this leaves them dependent on others. Which is a snare unto itself. What happens when others are no longer there?

Some people I know are very happy being liars. They seem to need to make their lives complicated and it's a kind of challenge to them to remember what they have said to whom......
Personally, I don't understand it.

I agree with Just Me. There is such a thing as pathological lying. It's a compulsion, like an obsessive-compulsive disorder. They can't help themselves but to lie.
