Under what circumstances would you favor nuking Iran?

I don't want a ground war. Just bomb and destroy like we nuked Japan. No land invasion.

I don't see another option. Irans nuke factory is buried so deep only our latest nuke bunker buster can reach them. The only real question is how much of its military to we take out at the same time to prevent them from striking out, and do we use nukes for that job? I think if a country has nukes we should take off the gloves and nuke em first.

The Persians have been a constant problem for the western world for thousands of years. Marathon, Thermopylea, and Guagamela every time they have been slapped down and yet come back for more. I say we turn Iran into a crater and be done with them.

You do your country and President Bush no favours with this question as many people already view the American Military as "trigger happy". Even if all diplomatic and political avenues have been explored to end nuclear development (and this has not yet been proven) in Iran the statement "nuking Iran" is tantamount to incitement to murder. Why the description murder? Because that is the easy way! Anyone with any sense and intelligence knows that the easy way is hardly ever a long term answer to a complicated problem such as this. Be a man and consider whether when you encounter a problem do you obliterate it so you don't have to worry about it any more or do you face the problem so that there is a happy overall solution for others and not just yourself. I call it selfish and cowardly.

There is no reason to nuke Iran. If they did something that bad then the whole world would simply run them over.

Besides you are talking about a country that has 50 American built F-16's that have been in a hanger for 15 years and they can't make them fly. What are the odds of them building a nuke and not accidentally blowing themselves up.

there's a large difference between bombing someplace that could be justified less than certain situations and NUKES which poisons quite everyone and each little thing. not quite everyone uncovered to radiation dies of thyroid maximum cancers. Many proceed to exist with very severe well being and reproductive ailment. This spreads international huge. It received't in basic terms be in Iran. we've the technologies to drop a sensible nuclear loose bomb on each person we choose. Why the heck may we prefer to spread (extra) radiation in the course of the planet?

When you say "something must be done" - why? Is it because you are afraid if Iran has a nuclear weapon they're going to nuke Israel? PLEASE! They may be crazy, but they're not that crazy. Israel would retaliate with their own nukes, then maybe Pakistan would nuke India, then maybe the US would nuke Pakistan, then maybe Russia would nuke the US, then the UK would nuke Russia....

You know, when we nuked Nagasaki and Hiroshima we had no idea of the devastation these weapons cause, nor of the long-term after-effects of nuclear fall-out, nor of the half-life of ground radiation. Now that we do know, we would never do it again, and nobody who wants to continue to live, be they Iranian, Israeli, French or Chinese, would do it.

Countries who want nukes (and Iran is just one of many; even modern pacifist Japan wants one now to counter the possible threat of North Korea), want them as deterrents. The logic goes, "If I have a nuke, you won't attack me, not even with conventional weapons". That logic kept us from obliterating the Earth all during the Cold War.

I would be in favor of nuking Iran only in response to Irans use of a nuclear weapon or if it provided a nuke for a terrorist to use.
