Gear selector problem is probably right OR the linkages have broken underneath car - not sure to be honest on Vauxhall - but unless you know what you are doing and have all the tools to remove the gearbox - book it into a garage

Hello,
FIRST. will the gear shift still select all the other gears? if yes, then it is a matter of having the selector-rod re-adjusted, half an hour tops in a good mechanics garage, ask can you watch how he does it, and check his working with your Haynes Manual, hope you are mobile soon, astra 1.4 is a good little engine, good luck............. Assuming you comprehend to elevate the lever less than the best of the gearstick to flow the selector over to opposite. Then definite probably your pal is ideal. even if it really is that you quite prefer to allow a mechanic seem at it.
