There are so many different kinds of masks out there and all of them will be beneficial. However, some will be more beneficial than others, but for different reasons.
If your skin is dull, which is often the case for oily skin, a clay based mask will soak up the oil, draw and lift impurities, not to mention dead skin cells.
The relaxation benefits of applying masks are great, but there is such a thing as over-doing it. Masks should be used only about once a week, unless the package states differently. Be sure to always read the directions.
So, what happens if you over-use a facial mask? Your skin gets really busy making even more oil to compensate for the oil that you just stripped away.

sad to say but after trying the best, Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask sucked all of the oil off my face everytime without drying it out.
sad because the $30 a bottle stuff is useless against the $2.99 stuff from Wal-Mart.
the only catch is getting it off easily, I usually put it on just before getting in the shower (after waiting 10 minutes or so)
