According to the folks at
http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff185133.htm that phone number is a scam.

Apparently, they leave a voice mail and get you to call back, then try to get your personal information.

There is some additional info on it at http://whocalled.us/lookup/8883030906

I'd have the three credit reporting agencies pull your credit report for you and make sure no one's messing with your identity.

Good luck.

There seems to be some controversy over who is really behind this telephone number, but I conclude that it's an automated caller operated by GMAC Mortgages sending recordings to people who are past due on their payments. I have found many examples of people who get this call, called the number on the GMAC website, and learned that they were indeed late on a payment.

Unfortunately, others are getting the call who never had a GMAC account, and this is caused by several factors: the debtor changed their number without telling GMAC, you are assigned the number when you open a new account with the same carrier, and you get the calls. That happened to my daughter last month. Also, the error can be caused by a clerk keying a number in incorrectly, or by the auto-dialer malfunctioning - as they sometimes do.

Lastly, there seem to be a lot of complaints about GMAC's handling of mortgages that they buy; I don't know what to think of it but I pray that my mortgage is never sold to GMAC mortgage! I've found tales of lost payments, dunning of people who are current with their account, GMAC switching operating agencies to one that suffered a major computer system crash that scrambled thousands of accounts . . . pretty horrifying to see of such a company.

Conclusion? For your sake I pray that you are only one of the people who do NOT have a mortgage owned or serviced by GMAC Mortgage and are being called in error.
