I used to have a Dell laptop and had to regularly bring it to our IT guys for repair. I now have an HP which I like and happy with it.

So far, i am quite happy with the tech support of HP. With the online chat function, its easier to get some help. No calling and misunderstanding because of accent problems.

The only advice I can give you is to not finance through Dell because they have extrememly high interest rates! Their tech support is in India so it's very difficult to understand the operators, but from what I understand that is how most companies are these days. I have had a Dell laptop for two years and haven't had a problem with it, also I use Dell desktop computers at work and they run just as nice.

analysts said HP had overtaken Dell because it was better adapting to changing market conditions.

This time last year, Gartner put Dell's global share at 16.6%, and HP's at 15.1%.

"HP continues to take better advantage of the faster growth segments such as the consumer market," said Gartner's Mikako Kitagawa.

"Dell felt the effects of the weak sales in the US market, and it gave up some ground."

A separate survey by International Data Corp put HP and Dell level, saying each had a global share of 17.3%.

I'll have to agree with the customer service issues with Dell. Very annoying. Still I I have worked with Dell computers for many years and find them very reliable and built tough. Never had a problem with them and if you purchase out right they have some dam cheap deals.

I currently have an HP and I will never buy another one. My Mom has a Dell and she has had absolutely no problems with hers. Wish I could say that about mine! lol

Go for the HP, Dell is too propriety controlled. HP has better, and more versatile products, that are compatible with other products.
