I am in the military.. And currently I know I work with some gay people... There already are gay people in the military.. They just are not allowed to flaunt it.. However, the military at least 11B could be rather rough for a gay person.. The military tends to have some harsh joking about gay people.. I dont know I guess its up to the individual

Here goes all the close-minded thinking. I was in the military from 1994 - 1998 and I didn't have any problems. I didn't mind the military. I done my job, and I was one of the top in my career field. Surprising that gay people have a brain, right? The boss that I work for now, and have been with the company for 9 years is the same boss I had in the military. P.S. He knew I was gay when I was in the military. He didn't ask and he doesn't care.

I think they should be. If they can pass the physical exam then sure. But, they should have to sign an agreement saying they are not going to flaunt what they are. I am tired of seeing gay people talk with a lisp and walk like they have a cobb up their butt. They need to realize when they do that they are being made fun of. I could care less what they do with their lives. Keep it to themselves. If they can't act like a normal person when in the military and not draw attention then no they should not be allowed in. The military is not about the individual, it is about this country.

Yes but why they should want to is beyond me.
By the way in Hellenistic Greece gays in the military were the norm and the toughest regiment in the world at the time was made up exclusively of guy couples. The theory was they'd fight harder to impress their lover and if he got into trouble they'd do anything to save him.
Might be an interesting experiment now.

Are they not willing to sacrifice their lives for our country and to preserve our freedom and way of life. In the same way would one question the sexual orientation of anyone tryring to save our life. A doctor, police officer, or the stranger who comes to ones need. Really now would anyone say NO. I will die first. I think not.

If they want. But I certainly wouldn't go risking my life for this country...especially with Bush in the presidential chair.

Why not? You'd swear alliance to the same country as your hetrosexual team mates.

Of course!
You don't have to be straight to be in the military; you just have to be able to shoot straight.
