While guinea pigs DO eat and drink a lot, they also really enjoy getting out and playing with you. Let him snoop around the house a bit - maybe think about getting him a companion so when he's in his cage he's not bored? Guinea pigs are always better in twos! Also, you might consider getting a 'small animal playpen' that would allow your guinea pig to get out and romp around (with the new buddy I hope he gets) and get exercise on on a daily basis - SO much healthier for him and then you can stop worrying about him. Also, but SURE he's getting lots of fresh vegetables every day, as the food you buy in stores is only a supplement to the fruits and vegetables they LOVE to eat! Lettuce, spinach, celery, carrots, melons, apples...all kinds of thing will help his world be more fun....but room to run around and a playmate to share his yummy food with would be WONDERFUL for him AND for YOU too! :-)

Hi , guinea pigs are greedy hence the word pig ,you cant really get him a friend cause boys usually fight and give him a girl well you dont need me to tell you what will happen ,what about a little rabbit ?as long as the guinea pig has somewhere to go out the way of the rabbit i.e a box the guinea can fit in but not the rabbit they should be ok ,you shouldnt really have one guinea on there own because they crave company but guineas will eat all the time if food is there ,watch they dont get too fat otherwise they wont be able to clean themselves xxxx

They do eat a lot yes and sometimes it is through boredom, things like hay help to relieve the boredom giving them something to do, also guinea pigs like a lot of attention they are very sociable creatures so maybe at a certain time each day you can bring him out for a little fuss

Because of the way g-pigs GI system works (its in constant motion) they need to graze through out the day. Some of his eating may be from boredom. Make sure he gets excercise time outside of his cage every day. You can also give him store bought toys and tunnels, or a few house hold items to play with. Good things are: Paper bags, tennis balls, empty margarine containers, sheets of newspaper, empty oatmeal containers, paper towel tubes, stuffed animals (make sure to remove any eyes or buttons).

Yeah pretty much.Your GP sounds fine, its when he stops eating, that you should worry. Guinea pigs tend to eat non stop for teeth maintenance. Their teeth grows at an alarming rate, and generally they need to chew on something to prevent abnormal teeth length. However, piggies are such care-free animals that the littlest things will keep them occupied. If adding a partner is not an option, make sure you let your piggie out for floor time everyday. Make sure he has plenty of toys like cardboard paper rolls, paper balls, wood chews, brown paper bags to go in and out of, and timothy hay to chew on. Or simply hold him in your lap, GP are very affectionate, and like to cuddle. Good Luck with your GP...
