I am always very friendly and polite, until I feel that someone is taking advantage of me. I never talk about other people and always have a smile on my face. Once someone has crossed that line I will be very blunt in telling them exactly how I feel.
If you are fun to be around and happy and polite people will love to be around you. When the day comes that you have to put them in their place just tell them exactly how you feel. Then you can go back to doing what you had been doing before they pissed you off.If they are true friends, they should understand.

Not knowing your situation first hand: There is a thing called being too polite. Also being too friendly. Sounds like you maybe trying too hard.
As in any relationship (friendship or sexual), everyone needs their own space. This goes for both sides of the fence. Try holding yourself back some and stay more off to the side, Wait to be asked for help or to be involved.
You may even learn these "friends" isn't the type of friends you really want or need. It's called being used.
What ever the clash is, you will have to figure that out yourself.
Good luck and NEVER give up on yourself!

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed
to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. time is passing fast, and you'll eventually lose someone love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back. you can make a miracle will happen tonight. Don't be afraid that your life will end be afraid that it will never begin

G'day Yassmin,
First off, you can not make ppl do anything (unless you have them tied-up) Here's a thought that has helped me.
"Never Hang Around People That Have More Problems Than Myself"
Use that thought to work out who you should really be talking to, and maybe, who your real friends are.
Continue with your polite and friendly,
Best Luck, Rod

Get a few visible tattoos, your tongue, nose and eyebrow pierced, and buy a 9mm pistol. Then watch lots of rap videos to learn how to act like a gangster. Then learn to say things like “Yo what up D” or “bout to bust a cap”. In time you will become a greatly respected member of society. Peace…

Inroduce your friends to these wonderful little creations that are called boundaries...... set boundaries... figure out what is an is not okay in your relationships with others and then stick to the boundaries...
also don't give too much of yourself away... don't be keen to talk.... when something importat happens in your life dont go straight to tell your friends about it... instead hold it inside and figure out your own answers.... you dont need to tell them everything and they dont need to know everything... leave a little distance between you and them...

you have to be firm but fair.
it also helps if you can establish this from the beginning. unfortunately, too many people think that once they've stepped on you they can do it easily again in the future. so your newfound confidence in defending yourself comes across as suddenly "disrespectful." In reality, it might not be. It's just that they've trained their minds to think that "respectful" for you is rolling over backwards for them.
