I asked this question about 9 years ago when I discovered what the true effect of smoking a joint was. I haven't smoked in 8 years and this question always stuck with me.

I know the electric charge is weakend and disperses, but people get killed in the water when it's hit in their vicinity.

When lightning strikes the ocean the strike delivers a huge number of electrons (or steals them away).The resulting charge is dispersed into the ocean.Any fish very close by the point of the strike would be fried.Fish very far away may not even know there is a storm coming.

Depends on how far away the fish are from the point the lightning bolt hits the water. Also most of the energy will stay at the surface. And the energy that gets deeper will dissipate quickly due to the large volume it gets ditributed over.

perhaps the fish swim deep in the water or lightning not so conicidentally strike the water near them...i think lightning would strike the trees instead of the water...

water is a extra effective conductor than the fish, hence it is going via the water, round them. although in air, that is a foul conductor, it is going to flow via the guy or merchandise being hit.

They have a total oposite nervos system it wouldnt be no fun if your catch for the day was fried right from the water now would it.they have no heart .etc

there are two reasons.
1. the fish are not grounded.
2 . the lighning discipates in the water
