it is a "red dragon" venus fly trap. I know it sounds stupid but yes I want to name a plant. It is my first plant of any kind, here is a picture of one if you want to see what it looks like. Mine has more green in it.

How about Drago? (Short for "drago rosso", which is Italian for Red Dragon)

Or you could name it Goldblum, in honor of the actor who played the lead role in "The Fly".

If you're looking for girls names, I suppose Venus would be too unoriginal. So how about my personal favorite: Lorelai? The Gilmore Girls did plenty of trapping on their own, when it came to the unsuspecting males of our species...

Anyway, good luck! Have fun -

Red Snapper. Now it's named after a fish. By the way the woman in little shop was Audrey. The plant was Audrey 2.

How about Star fire because from the top of the picture it looks like a star.

Or maybe if you like the name Audrey just name it that.

It really doesn't matter what you name it as long as you like the name an your new friend that is all that counts.

How about going the other way? Seymour...???

Or maybe something referring to the color RED...get out a thesaurus and start with crimson, scarlet, vermillion, ruby, garnet, you get the picture.

I like Audrey II, too. It's cute...and it's not like you'll have competition at the "plant park"(unless perhaps she'll/he'll be competing).

"Audrey" is a good one ---why "nah"?

It's a cool looking plant...does it really trap flies?

I don't have any good names (no coffee yet) but I love to think of a man caring about a plant enough to name it...

How about "Hannibal"? Yes, as in Lecter, but not because it's a cannibal-- because the book that introduced Hannibal Lector was NOT "Silence of the Lambs" but the book that preceeded it.

It's title: Red Dragon.
