why doesn't people want to get baptize and for some why the hesitation? please answer asap.?

Some people don't understand the concept of baptism. They hesitate because they are unsure. I was baptized early, but my husband has never been baptized. He has come close on several occasions, but as time got near, he bagged out of it. Now, he has decided that he does not believe in religion. He still believes in God, but he can't favor one religion over the others. This scares me some, but I have learned to live with it.
