Baptism is effectively a commitment to live as a Christian. One of the reasons some people dislike infant baptism is that it commits the child before it can express its own will. Adult baptism must be assumed to be voluntary.

This may come as a shock, but not everyone wants to commit to being a Christian. Many people feel there is a better pathway for them which also leads to God. In fact, it has been argued that ALL pathways lead to God, but that some are rockier than others, some less direct, etc. To me, the path I am on is my path, and it cannot be dictated by a creed or doctrine.

People dont want to be baptized because that is a direct way of saying u want to be Christian. Some people just aren't ready for that kind of commitment.

some people do not believe in the ritual of baptism, which is forgiveness of all sins and cleansing a newborn. if one doesnt get baptized (catholic religion) when they die they will not be accpeted into heaven. it is a matter or religion and belief. i was baptized, being born into a catholic family, however, i have left the church now, and if i hadn't been baptized i really couldn't care less.
