did you add salt to the tank and now fish are dying? or do you want to add salt to the tank because the fish are dying?

in my opinion the only salts that should ever be added to tanks are those made specifically for that purpose. So Aquarium Med Salt or Marine Salt. The differences is in the processes they were made, but i'm no scientist. Aquarium Salt is freshwater safe and doesn't really affect the salinity (i don't think?) and is used to boost a fishes health, over use however can result in liver damage, and in the case of scaleless fish (loaches, plecs, corys) it can be fatal, they are salt intolerant.

Marine Salt should only be used if your trying to have a Brackish or Marine tank. I've never kept saltwater and can't advise any further than this.

what types of fish are dying?

You could try reading through this, but sounds long and boring. Can't say for sure, not a chemistry major, but I believe the differences in the salts are the elements and minerals in each brand. Table salt has iodine in it, where as other salts wont.

If it's a freshwater tank, and you were dosing for disease or whatever, do a quick 40-50% water change, and don't add more salt. If it's a marine aquarium, I believe you should only be using marine salt, because of those elements that it has in it. Sorry not much more help, but good luck!!
