I've been to Johore Malaysia and there's nothing much to see there except the prince's palace, it's very rural and dry. Not sure about Kuala Lumpur, maybe the Petronas towers is the only tourist attraction there. Haven't been to Thailand but I'm curious about their beaches sinces phiphi island was were Leonardo di caprio's movie "the beach" was shot. Now the Philippines, oh my beautiful country the Philippines... I can confidently say, with the strongest of convictions :p, that it is the place to be! I'm telling you, I haven't been to Boracay yet which is the talk of town, but the places I've been already were AWESOME. How much more those famous spots, I can just imagine. Actually, those are the places I'm planning to go to in my next trips. Just not Amanpulo, I heard it's soaring high expensive, I can't afford it. But they say high profile personalities such as Tom Cruise go there for vacation... it just means it's world class ;) That's my Philippines :)

I've been to Malaysia (KL, Putra Jaya, Cyberjaya) these places are very modern and highly cosmopolitan, but nothing can bet the Philippines in terms of night life. I could say the Philippines has a lot more to offer. If you are a beach & nature lover we have Bohol, Pawalan, Cebu, Boracay & Davao. If you enjoy diving we are number 2 in the top 10 diving site in the World we haveTubattaha Reef in Palawan, Puerto Galera in Mindoro & Anilao in Batangas. If you enjoy nightlife we have Ayala Center in Makati, Malate in Manila, Timog & Libis in Quezon City. If you want shopping 3 of the top 10 biggest Mall in the World is located here namely SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall & SM North Edsa. And the most important we have the friendliest people & we speak English.

I hope these will help you to try Philippines. Enjoy!

Thailand (Plane tickets are nearly 1/2 of what it would be to Philippines from South Africa).

I would however love to see both Phillipines and Malaysia. (Have been to Thai before)

In all three places you find great beaches, good food, nice people. However if you like a country which is closest in culture to the West then you have to pick the Philippines. Its Spanish and American influence is unique in Asia.

Where are you from? What do you like to do?

Thailand is a MUCH more popular tourist destination and thats not by luck. Unless you have a specific interest in Malaysiana or Phillipino culture - I woudl go with Thailand. Bangkok is a must see during your lifetime. Hau Hin, Phuket, Karabi, and Chang Mai are great destinations and offer everything from beautiful beaches to elephant treks.

Well, to me there is no doubt, the Philippines. Mostly because I have been there 4 times and know my way around Manila and North Luzon, and I have many friends and of course family there. I love the food, malls, beaches and crowds. And Chinatown is a must see in the city.
