Money is the most important to survive. As for the Marriage Certificate.......... It has became a piece of paper. Yes it is a legal contract, however too many break the contract by committing mental, physical , or verbal abuse. They also break it by having affairs.
People dont veiw marriage as they once did. Along time ago, it was a life long committment, but now they get married and say well if it doesnt work ill divorce you and try again. So there for its just a piece of paper. Nothing really making it important if you want to make a change. Nothing that MONEY cant take care of anyway>>> meaning to pay to get divorced to cancel the contract.

Well, for those people that enter into a marriage after a period of "engagement" or dating, wherein they evaluated both themselves and each other regarding a long term relationship, the marriage license, the ring, the vows are all just details, albeit with significance, but the relationship would still be as strong without them.
Marriage is a social convention; not a bad one but a convention none the less.
Unfortunately, half of the married couples are not emotionally mature enough to live harmoniously with one anothter, so the marriage license really doesn't have a lot of meaning.
What's important is the strength of the relationship and the personal qualities each brings to the table.

A Marriage Certificate is a contract that is binding in law. It is not something that is just a piece of paper. It can turn your world upside down when you try to get rid of it, ie divorce.
But probably the most important document is the Birth Certificate. It identifies who and what you are.

Is your Birth Certicate a piece of paper, yes. Is your Drivers License a piece of paper, yes. Is you Social Security Card a piece of paper, yes. Are they important, yes. Why? They say who you are. Is a Marriage Certificate a piece of paper, yes. Why? It says before this company and if you believe in a God, I will commit myself to this person freely and with all that I am from this day forward. This piece of paper says to the world at large that you two have become a family. That is not a small thing. A family is a large responsibility and you have said to the world, yes.

No. Is a contract just a piece of paper? No. Some things can be infused with power, legal or otherwise. And as far as what is the most important piece of paper...well, that would depend on who you would ask.

Life is symbolic. If we say those symbols are just this or that material, we are really missing the point. For me, the marriage certificate represents a historic set of values, experiences and standards - and I'm not evaluating at all here, I can see both sides of the argument for marriage.
I don't know what's the most guarded but I'm not planning to borrow the following:
USA Declaration of Independence, Magna Carta, Dead Sea Scrolls.

Yep! Just a piece of paper. But it can get me a huge tax break, so it's a nice piece of paper!
the most important paper in the world is without a doubt toilet paper.

I don't think marriage is a proof of Love. It is just a piece of paper. But I would still like to get married. I can't tell why.

it's a very important piece of paper when it comes to the ability to share credit, insurance, assets, etc.
and if you ever split, which statistically in the USA you're likely to do ... you'll it it for divorce and dividing up the assets. without a marriage in most states, you don't have a leg to stand on (unless there was some type of additional civil union paper work filed).
