Theres two theories that are blatantly wrong but come from historical questions that have never been answered/ Firstly the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans (along with almost the whole country) in AD70 or AD73. (Read "The Jewish War" by Josephus) and the Romans found only 20kg of gold or so. According to some reports they expected to find 30-40 tonnes of gold. This gold has never been found and it is roumored that the Knights Templar found the gold and kept it for themselves. Highly unlikely as the gold hiddeen under the temple would have been found in the extensive search done by the Romans and most likely never existed. Second there were supposed to be books of secret knowledge from the age of Solomon hidden under the temple. This really is thin even for a conspiracy theory as Codex type writings (books) did not appear at all untill about 900 years after the reighn of solomon and were not used except by the poorest who could not afford scrolls untill approximately 200AD when Christians started using them extensively regardless of status (Read Hurtado "The Earliest Christian Artifacts"). So books would not have been used. There is a legend that there was some artwork painted on the walls under the temple area but as the area is not accessable this cannot be either confirmed or disproved. These stories have lead to the story about the sealed boc brought to Scotland by the remains of the Knights Templar after the Pope and the king of France at the time made up heresy charges to attack them and cease their banking system and cease their lands on friday 13th October 1207 (hence friday 13th being unlucky). The story I have been told is that the Knights Templar found some of the scrolls that had been rescued from the library of Alexandrea when all the scrolls were to be burned after it was captured about AD672. These contained things like trigonometry, and ways of treating steels (toledo steel was the best steel around this era and nobody knows how to make it any more). The bit about Toledo steel is possibly false as toledo steel was made after this date but it is possible that the toledo steel makers kept their art secret but that the Tamplars also knew the secret of how to make it. This would explain why the Templars managed to win so many battles where on paper they should have lost. As Scrolls are much lighter than books (though they contain less information) I believe it is far more likely that the box carried scrolls rather than books (which would have been very heavy even for a horse) and Gold would definitely have been way too heavy as a box full of gold would weigh several tonnes. For example a box with an inside size of 30cm x 30cm x 60 cm full of water would have 54kg of water in it. Not a huge amount for a horse but still heavy for a man to lift. The same box full of gold would weigh over 1 tonne.

The heart of Robert the Bruce placed in a casket and Buried under the Temple of King Soloman
The son of David was Solomon who had the great Temple built by a Master Mason. The Great Temple of the Arc of the Covenant was a beautiful structure that also held the secrets of the masons. This is where the connection of King Solomon to the Mason is conceived.
