Curious and was asked in a school debate. We got on the subjet of Youth Day (16th June) which celebrates young kids fighting for their rights and not being taught in Afr.

As its a language in common use in SA, I would have thought that it would be pretty useful to learn it.

As regards English being a universal language, its partially down to the USA being the major economy of the last few decades and therefore any country wanting to do business needed to conduct it in English, partly because the British Empire spread it as a common language, and partly because it is unique insomuch as it is good for both technical description and creative use (the English descriptive power is phenomenal), and is never frightened to absorb new words or pinch them from other languages.

It pays to know a second language. You would benefit from it.
