yes, yes, and yes. The shot did exactly that to me also. Talk to your doctor asap.

A resounding YES to all those symptoms.
I've been on the Depo shot for the past 6 months. I was on the pill for 4 years prior to that. A few weeks after receiving my first shot, I noticed a drastic increase in my weight despite the fact that I exercise daily and didn't change my diet at all. Now, six months later, I am 15 pounds heavier (!) and I'm not happy about it at all, which causes me to be stressed out constantly. And speaking of which, I noticed my overall mood became more pessimistic and depressed after going on the shot... so much so that other people have made comments about it. The changes the shot has brought about are highly noticeable.
The shot's negative side-effects far outstrip the convenience of the method. It lowers bone density, too, which is just an all-around bad thing, considering the fact that it's important to conserve and maintain bone health as we all move up in age.
Needless to say, I am not going back for my follow-up shot, and will be switching back to the pill for my birth control method.
I suggest that you get off the shot and switch to a better birth control method that has fewer harmful side-effects. Do your research, and ask as many questions as you can of your health care provider. There are a lot of options out there.

Yes, birth control pills can cause weight gain, irritability, and depression for some women.
The weight gain from the pill though is due to water retention. I know of others who have taken the pill in particular a certain brand that has come out in the past few years and they had a huge problem with depression.
I don't know how long you have been on the pill but I would definitely discuss the concerns with your dr.

Yes, Depo is notorious for causing weight gain, irritability, depression, and a ton of other symptoms. A friend of mine could not tolerate it, so she switched to the IUD. The patch is another option, but I always recommend BC pills if you don't have trouble remembering to take them

Ohhhhhhh yeah.
Happened to me, I was on depo for four years. Had ALL of those symptoms, as well as loss of sex drive and spotting at the oddest times.

I am on Kariva now (pill). No excess weight gain, not really moody, got my drive back, and no spotting!
