I have an egg but I'm supposed to pretend I don't know its an egg. I have one hour. How do I prove that it is living? (and not non-living or dead). Eggs only have one cell so I can't look at it under a microscope right?

This sounds like a class project, but I'm not sure what type of class it would be for or how destructive you can be.

The first thing that popped into my head is you could take the temperature of the egg at two different times and show that it was generating it's own internal heat. I don't much about eggs or birds, but most living creatures (except reptiles) generate heat when they are alive.

Is this your science homework? Look at it with a very sensitive heat-detecting device. If it's alive, it will be slightly warmer than the surrounding air.
