I have the paper work here for the car and on the 'contract for the sale of a second-ahnd vehicle by a dealer' he has written on the form that it is a CE GLXi, from doing research on the internet, this is a 4 door 1.8L, where my car is a 1.5L 2 door....since the dealer wrote down the incorrect information for the contract...what would be possible? a refund of part of the money or??

Your salesman is an idiot. Most salesmen don't know what they are selling, and don't even care as long as they get paid. They will tell you anything to get your money. And when you go back to rip him a new one - he's fired and replaced with another loser. However, I run into this type of problem all the time working at a dealership, you have to do your homework when buying a car. Bring a mechanic with you, or at least some know it all neighbor kid. Buyer beware. Hopefully, there is a manager with a heart at your dealership....... And he'll make it right somehow. But remember, you bought the VIN on the salescheck not the words out of his mouth.

This all depends on how long it has been. The best thing to do is try to resolve it through the dealer, if that doesn't work, go to the Dept. of Dealer Licensing for your state, usually you can contact them through your DMV. You really won't get much noticeable performance increase with the 1.8, and if you like the car and the way it drives, forget about it. I understand the principle about being lied to / having a dumb salesman though.

Besides looking on the internet, have you actually opened the hood and looked at the tag to make 100% sure what engine is in your car? Another quick way is to look at the 8th number in your VIN, and call a parts store or shop to check it with what engine it should have?
