im moving out of an apartment soon and they told us not to bother covering up the nail holes? is that just so they have something to charge us for or do they not want it done wrong?

Make it clear that you have offered to fill in any holes and you will not be charged for their filling them in.
Good Luck.

It's possible they are planning to repaint the walls and would rather smooth out the nail holes themselves. Sometimes a tenet will cover the nail holes without sanding after it drys. Trust is a wonderful trait. Try not to place your trust in the wrong places and give people a chance.

I agree with eyes of iceblue. Just be sure to get something in writing. You can't trust anyone these days.
