For reducing post-coital discomfort and pain/soreness, you just want to make sure to remember the basics: relax, relax, relax, use a ton of good-quality anal lube (best if you buy lube specifically manufactured for anal sex), have your partner masturbate or otherwise orgasm beforehand, so he's softer, smaller, and won't use you so roughly in order to get off, go slow, breathe, etc., etc.. If you think his size might stretch you and cause pain, then you might want to try gradually stretching your rectum in order to better accommodate his size- either by starting with small dildos and working up (go slow!), or, an even better, funner, and more effective mode- buying several different-sized flexible butt plugs that can be worn surreptitiously underneath the clothing all day to stretch you out and get used to having something in your rectum. When I was first leaning to 'take it', I was advised to just relax and breath!!!! Your significant (or insignificant) other should make sure the probing member is thoroughly lubed and is given slowly.
