Because the majority of Americans are Christian. And that is how they express their blessings on someone they care for or like. It's not derogatory or being disrespectful, actually it's quite a compliment.

Buddy! That's what ppl say whan you sneeze. Stop sneezing, take anti-histamines, and they'll stop saying it!
OH! I get it now! Quoting your mail,
"...
they always ask if im asian (well, thats because of my accent).. and whenever i say yes, most of theiar response is ---"then God bless you!"
..."
I wish you had been more specific, we would ave had a more lively discussion!. But seriously, that's weird! I hope you wear a large Golden Crucifix to make sure those Caucasian Americans don't have to carry " A WHITE MAN's " burden unnecessarily! Do non Christian whites say that too? Do you have Jewish people saying that to you, or is it purely a Christian phenomenon?
I mean, that's weird, and even more weird is that you say its a common occurence.
What do you say to that, " Same to you" ? Or "You Too"? Or "<4 letter word starting with F> you"?

My Asian friends believe there is a God, a creator. And my friends are also smart enough to accept a social custom for what it is. I accept, and return, a "why"( holding hands together in front of face) to a Thai person; and a bow to a Japanese.
travel a bit learn about the world, accept and enjoy others' customs.

Well, Asians are mainly buddist, so they like you to convert to christianity since you live in a christian country. This country was built of pioneers and slaves, they had this in common. GOD

Because of the culture of Judeo Christians. It is a way of saying I wish good upon you.
As an Asian are you are insulted because we do not discard our culture to conform to the culture of the country you came from ?
Would it be racist of me to say that you could have tolerance for my culture? In my country?
Do you want to return to Asia? Please go, if you find America so bad, quit procrastinating and go.

You think its better for people to change their religious and cultural practices then it is to accidentally insult someone by asking God to bless them?
I think there are worse things that people do to one anotherr. We should let this one slide.
Good Luck!

There's nothing wrong with that,it happens to be a nice thing to say to another person.
I'm not sure why it would be disrespectful, though. It's there religion
and "God bless you" is what they like to say to people who they care about.
