The only thing I can think of is an astromomer seeing a gigantic asteroid about to hit earth.

that's a good question. anything involving extreme amounts of explosives would surely be known by more than one person. that's what i thought of first.
hmmm.. what about if aliens called up one person on earth and said they were going to destroy the whole planet and the guy didn't get a chance to tell anyone else. (ha.. as long as aliens can use the phone, and even have reception out in space)

I totally agree:anything else will be seen by many more.
