I went to the Emirates Stadium a few weeks ago (freebie, like you) and it was cold. I wore a thin jumper and an overcoat and was still cold. Wifey wore what women call 'layers.' She was not cold!
Smart casual is fine, you'll fit in nicely - but remember that you may well be cold for two hours or more unless you wear some sort of jumper or jacket or vest.
Enjoy!

I can only go from my experience when attending a match in a corporate box. It was an informal day not talking much business, just there to have a few beers before the game and a meal. I thought like you did so i went in just a trousers & shirt just looking casual. The people who atended the box i was in were wearing a mix of outfits. So i recommend you contact the person taking you if you want to feel a ease on what to wear.

As your watching the gypos, wear flat cap, one earring, no shirt ,baggie trousers , and wellies.
At half time do ask people if they want their drives tarmacked, trees fell ect.
After the match have a sit down (on a milk crate) and enjoy a hedgehog sandwich washed down with a can of Special Brew (stolen from the local tescos). On the way home dont forget to dump your rubbish in somebodys garden.

Jeans & trainers and a warm top, your going to a football match, box or no box you'd look stupid and feel out of place in trousers and a smart shirt !!!

the closest jersey or appeal you have realted to the team, but dont go out on it more than the locals would, have some team spirit but keep it conservative or else you will look like a little W*nker
