It seems the media will automatically refer to any black person as Afro American. To do so, you need to know the nationality of such individual to use that term. Have you noticed, a news paper may indicate "..pictured are two young afro american children playing..." or on the TV news, ..'the suspect was a middle aged african americn male....Blacks are not exclusive to america, these people they're identifying may come from the UK, or West Indies, Canada, France, Cuba, or even from an African country!! If so, then the term African America would be incorrect to use for these individuals! I understand black people may not want to be referred to as black, because no one is actually black in color. But, we use the term white all the time, and the same applies, there are no real "white" people...

The label is so lame even a white person could use the label of being Afro American. How? Suppose white missionaries from the U.S., are working in Africa, when their children are born. Later they move back to the U.S, and there you hv it, their children are African American, but they're WHITE !!!
