"The Stranger" is my favorite book; I've read it at least seven times. I've read all of Camus' fictional works. A few years ago, I grabbed a copy of "The First Man" (the unfinished manuscript that was found in his car the day he died) at a book sale. I have started this book four or five times and I've never gotten to Chapter Four. I keep putting it down. I can't read it. Once it's read, I will never again be able to read a novel by this brilliant man for the first time again.

Yes; I've read a newer translation of The Stranger, and loved it. :) It started off very simplistic and odd... and very easy to read because of the simplicity. It ended in a torrent of words and emotions that was just...profoundly moving, for some reason.

I have tons of respect for him, simply from that book alone--which probably says something about the quality of the writing itself.

I have a couple other of his works waiting to be read, too....

Long time ago in Junior High, I remember it being very interesting and was very nice to read.

If I remember well it was called : The Fall. nice reading. I wish I had read more of his works. Easy to follow and understand.

Even Bush claims to have read L'Etranger, possibly in the Cliff's Notes version; this was never made clear.

At least he knows that Meursault was guillotined for the senseless killing of one single Arab.

This is unlikely to present a problem, however, as Bush is certain to cry at his mother's funeral.
