is it worth it?

Lets see... we have been killing ourselves since we were cavemen, except back then it was sticks and stones, and now its planes and nukes(as someone once said to me "we are always looking for the next best way to kill our neighbor").

In my opinion, the Children of Men movie sums it up pretty well (without the women being infertile part though) - so yeah, i see dystopia and war. Humans are controlled by emotions. Love, hate, pride, revenge...with our feelings we would kill the murderer of children...the only way we can change is if we realize how sacred and important life is. Each of us has one life, one chance, how we use this life is up to us. We all believe in a different religion, but it is still unknown what will happen when we die so that is why life is still important even if it sucks!

So is it worth it.....HELL YES!...im only 18, ive lived through a lot of bad stuff - parent divorce, abuse, cheating, death, nights of crying... my own father does not love me. My life isnt perfect but i have no regrets, im in college and studying architecture. In a way i hate my life but im not giving up on it. I live not for myself but for those around me. Even if the world goes to hell i still want to live to see it.

Unless you find yourself in severe, chronic, unending phyical pain with no hope of alleviating, existence is always preferrable to the alternative, no matter how bleak or limited it may be.

If you expand the question to all of humanity, there are numerous pitfalls and hazards. The seerity has increased, but you could find these throughout history in the form of disease, war, break down of societies, and natural disasters severely disrupting mans existence.

With each of these followed a time of prodperity and improvement of society as a whole. Even the worse disaster to afflict modern man - the black plague - lead to a time of prosperity and plenty for those who survived, and improvements in all fields (from science and religion to quality of life issues) that wouldn't have occurred otherwise.

There are a few potential natural disasters - those worse than the killer asteroids - that could eliminate mankind, otherwise both continuation of existing conditions or severe disasters (natural or manmade) are more likely to provide improvement in the long term than a continual worsening.

The future of our existence depends not on our own hands but to the one ad only creator, the Almighty God. It may or may not be the one we want or expected but actually, future comes in surprise. So we better be prepared everyday for anything or everything to happen.

I predict the future will never arrive. It's always in the future.
How is our existence this very moment? There are people who need help, helping them improves our existence right now. And then you won't have to ask about the future, it will be taken care of.

If this scriptural thought is true(I believe it is), then it is something we can have hope that indeed it will be a great experience:

(Acts 17:26-28) “26 And he made out of one [man] every nation of men, to dwell upon the entire surface of the earth, and he decreed the appointed times and the set limits of the dwelling of [men], 27 for them to seek God, if they might grope for him and really find him, although, in fact, he is not far off from each one of us. 28 For by him we have life and move and EXIST(my caps), even as certain ones of the poets among YOU have said, ‘For we are also his progeny.’”

--So then if our existence is because of God, then we have what real hope is and does "the hope that does not lead to disappointment". Without God there really is no real hope that would lead to disappointment as many believe and loose faith.

Paul, here was publishing to the Greeks about a reference to an "unknown God"--of which the Greeks had an altar for:

(Acts 17:22-23) “22 Paul now stood in the midst of the Ar·e·op´a·gus and said: “Men of Athens, I behold that in all things YOU seem to be more given to the fear of the deities than others are. 23 For instance, while passing along and carefully observing YOUR objects of veneration I also found an altar on which had been inscribed ‘To an Unknown God.’ Therefore what YOU are unknowingly giving godly devotion to, this I am publishing to YOU.”

-Now, this God, was the God of theBible,Jehovah.
There are many promises in the Bible, of God turning this earth into a permanent paradise of which Jesus said:

(Matthew 5:5) “5 “Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth.” quoting the Psalms at 37:10, 29--please note:

.. “10 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. ? [Za´yin]. . .”29 The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.

--If you noted this is in reference to when the wicked will be eradicated at armaggedon, for the meek, who will survive that "war of God the Almighty" there will be "exquisite delight".....and they "will reside forever upon it"

--This scenario is in fulfillment of the recommendation of content that Jesus instructed his followers to pray .".......Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven......" The Bible interprets that Kingdom as a heavenly government--no NOT a church government but rulership from heaven--that will indeed take severe action upon all wicked elements on this earth, Please note:

(Daniel 2:44) “44 “And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite;”

--That does indeed mean an end to all earthly governments!

--If indeed true hope exists & and the True God is the author of such true hope , and the true promises of his are contained in the Bible---I would say yes indeed it is worth it, would you not?

Hopefully there's a revolution. There's a huge toilet that needs cleaning. It's called Washington D.C.
