Ok, so i'm thinking about buying an unlocked sidekick on ebay, price doesn't really matter, but i'm living in Australia at the moment and i see that there are some unlocked sidekick 2 and 3's on ebay at the moment.

i was just wondering, even if the phone is unlocked, do you need to enter in an unlock code everytime you enter the foreign simcard in or is it like you only have to enter it in once and its all unlocked from there?

thank you heaps :)

so if an unlocked code had already been entered in the phone by the seller on ebay, i wouldn't need the unlock code when i buy it?

Devices are locked by the providers so that they only work on that provider's network. If you happened to have an unlocked Sidekick and got a SIM card with local service from an Australian wireless provider, the Sidekick should work.

For instance my provider, T-Mobile, partners with Telstra in Australia for their roaming customers. If T-Mobile had local service in Australia,, then there would be no issue at all.

However, T-Mobile does not provide their own service in Australia. In countries where T-Mobile has local service, they do offer their customers the ability to use a local SIM card while they are in the country, thereby dramatically reducing their cost.

So, in a nutshell, if the Sidekick is unlocked, you can get a local Australian SIM card from several different sources.

I'd still check to see if that unlock code business rings true with your local provider BEFORE you buy that Sidekick phone first. It may not work out for you, despite the price! You don't want to have enter the unlock code every time you use the phone.

I have a brand new in the box for $250. Shipping will be $35. Get back to me if you or anyone else wants it!!! I've been trying to sell it for a while. I even have pics and everything!! Its already unlocked to work anywhere in the world on Cingular and T-Mobile even when you put in other sim cards!!

DON'T buy it on ebay!

many are SCAMS!

many don't exist.

many are NOT unlocked

you may have to PAY to have it unlocked no matter what the seller states!

go to a STORE in Austrailia and buy one that you KNOW will work!

if you insist on using ebay for this purchase, pay with a CREDIT CARD! it is your only protection here.

good luck!
