It is ONE of the pre-requisites of course - one which PAP's Singapore has achieved remarkably well. I intentionally say PAP's Singapore because things might have been different if this party never existed.

For any country to achieve economic success and well-being for its populace, the conditions within that country must be stable and conducive to allow economic activities to thrive - only then will there be foreign investments.

Singapore has preserved "racial harmony" the best in S E Asia through the democratic system and laws of the country - they apply equally to everyone.

Yes and no, Singapore has been under authoritarian rule for many years and the population has come to accept very strict laws but on the other hand Singapore has been a mixed society for a long time and people have just learned to live together. There is some tensions with Malaysia and Indonesia from time to time.
