I am currently on the pill because my doctor prescribed me onto the pill as a result of heavy periods. But I want to come off as I would like to start a family. But I am so dreading having heavy periods again! Does anyone know if there is any other medicine/homeopathic treatment that could help???

Here is a way to stop heavy periods using exercise.
I realized when I started the exercise that I had found something I had been looking for. I had very heavy periods, 7 days long and was often tired, drained and feeling emotionally unbalanced. I argued a lot with my partner and felt depressed.

Within 2 weeks of doing the exercise I had reduced my bleeding to 4 days and my energy levels rose. I felt focused, clear, energetic and really excited with my new found energy. At this time I also had more clarity regarding the issues in my life - I wasn't getting so caught up in them, I was feeling connected to myself and my life and this allowed me to take care of issues without all the arguments and drama.

I had the exact same problem when I wanted to try for a baby... It was awful, so I know exactly what you mean...!

I was taking Feminex tablets 2days before I was due on because the pains was so bad...

... I would suggest you speaking to your doctor. Definately try your local homeopath, thats good idea as well.

Find a weblink that may help http://www.publix.com/wellness/notes/Display.do?id=Homeo&childId=Dysmenorrhea_hm

Should be able to get it online, boots, holland and barretts etc

Good luck hope you don't have too many more periods, and you get pregnant soon!

Hi, Anonymou. I am only answering the problem you have with the cramps & the headache. That with the pill, you need to consult a gynaecologist or family planning specialist. It is not in my comfort zone. Now then, the cramps you are experiencing, is due to the fact that, you are bleeding heavily & the loss of calcium & magnesium in the flow is the cause. There may also be a problem with clotting factors & you therefore, need to purchase from a chemist, these supplements in order to put you back on your feet so to speak. A good intake of broccoli, cabbage & beetroot will provide you with the clotting factors. The headache is the result of loosing iron as well from the flow, so you also need to replenish that. Ok, Anonymou.

using a tampon will slow down the flow, but it also can prolong the period, you should have heavy flow the first 2 days. it gets worse after childbirth, give the pills a little time to work. Don't feel bad I have to use those elephant pads the first few days too. LOL!

I've heard of a shot you can take that causes you to only have four periods per year. I doubt this would decrease the severity, but I would think (I obviously wouldn't know) that 4 a year would be easier that 13.
