That is right, folk stories used to be revealed by one gneration to the other in India also relate existence of cannibals (known as Danvas or devils) to the period prior to 300 B.C. Some stories explains that some Indian kings like Raja Bhoj, Vikarmaditya used to pay secret visits to villages and towns to know the conditions of the people and killed some Danvas (giant cannibals) who used to take atleast life of one person from each family on daily basis. Mahabharata's superstrong hero Bheema also killed many Danvas and instilled confidence among the general public. Similiar stories from Africa, Asia and Europe during same period make one to beelive that Danvas (cannibal devils) used to live on the earth during ancient times.
