Oh..my...god.
I can't even imagine what kind of family these boys must have grown up in, to have raised such cold, evil children without a conscience. Their parents should be punished too!
I have a mixed breed puppy about the exact same age, I was nearly in tears reading that article. They said there were scratches inside the oven, indicating the pup was put in there ALIVE. Meaning, they stood by and listened to that puppy cry out and never felt a thing. Even worse, they decided to put on a show for neighborhood children! The words "sick and twisted" aren't even strong enough for these boys. Their lawyer says something like, "I wish they would have been rehabilitated instead." How does he sleep at night? I'm in total disgust.
I'm glad they are being punished. But, in my opinion, the sentence should have been more harsh. Torturing animals is a sign of a severe mental problem, and they should be put away for life before the next victim is a human child.

You know, if one were to bet on how depraved a human being could be, you would never lose your money!
I believe that we must respect all life, even the lives of the creatures that God created. They all serve the purpose upon which He intended, and He certainly would not condone such cruelty to a living thing.
It amazes me how these young boys became so ruthless and callous. It takes a person with no conscience to do such a cruel act upon another living creature. I can attribute it to one thing and one thing only, evil.
10 years is a slap on the wrist to these boys. Given chances for parole, they will probably be out of prison before the ink is dry. It makes me wonder if they could do such a cruel thing to an innocent puppy, could they do the same to an innocent human being? I wholeheartedly believe the answer is "yes". I would not be suprised if their names grace the news again in several years for killing a person.
We're in a sick, sick, world. And unfortunately, there is no cure.
My heart goes out to the puppy, and may God give that little creature comfort and rest.

I'd like to point out that there is something very wrong in the system...
the kids are capable of doing such an act at the age of 17 & 19.
what do you think they will do once they get 10 years of prison training on top of that and get out into the world ! at 27 & 29...

Thanks for summarizing--I definitely do *not* want to read that article. You're right; this sickens me. The punishment is too light. It's already been proven that almost all psychopaths and serial killers started out by being deliberately cruel to helpless animals. But at least they weren't just fined for whatever the puppy cost--at least, as a country, we're starting to take animal cruelty *somewhat* more seriously.
It's also nice to see that almost everyone responding to your question agrees. We *do* still have some shared values, after all!

I agree with gandmack, these 2 boys have the serial killer mentality. I read the article, I don't think 10 yrs is enough! The prison might not help these two, they need a mental hosp.!

an engaging, polemical question (and no, i did no longer race to the glossary for the be conscious "polemical" :P). I trust Steve that a visit to the glossary isn't a foul factor once you are attempting to steer away from repetition of a undeniable be conscious, whose meaning you are attempting to apply two times in the comparable sentence or paragraph. as much as now as i'm in touch the glossary, merely like the dictionary, is a device for use while that's mandatory. I understand the reason of your question, however. you're tying what's usually suggested as "pink prose" to glossary over-utilization, a controversy that's simple to many that're merely commencing out writing. as much as now as i'm in touch that's all portion of the academic technique. As a author matures he/she quickly discovers that in many situations "much less is greater", and that they have got a tendency to bypass away the greater flowery factors of their writing at the back of. So does the form of writing sicken me? no longer probable, because of the fact I understand the place that's coming from. or maybe now a author with some adventure will test with a various writing form (as I easily have accomplished) and come out with something that's decidedly "purplish". and then particularly some beta readers quickly placed this wayward author (who, me?) back on the at the instant and slender.

AND for the ten years, every one hour, they should get a cut in their scrotum, and get some after shave thrown on it. :)
