Accent, tradition and increasingly diluted genetic history. Irish and Scots share a common Celtic heritage eg. red or black hair, pale skin. Some Scots have Pict genes which would be distinct from the Celtic tribes of Ireland. But there has been so much intermarriage and emigration in both directions between these two countries that you really cant tell an Irishman from a Scot until they speak. The English have a Celtic, Saxon and Norman heritage. But any non-sense about being purely Irish, Scottish or English should be completely disregarded - all three countries have been interbreeding and mixing for so long they have become indistinguishable.
Stereotypes? We all know them. In Ireland and Scotland the English are considered effete, class-conscious, elitist, treacherous and xenophobic. But that's bollox. Some of my best mates are English and they are grand fellows. Scots are considered miserly, volatile and drunkards. Irish are thought of as stupid, violent and drunkards. All rubbish. Half my family are Scottish and are generous, decent hard working people. And being Irish the very minute I finish reading Dostoevsky I'm going to get hammered and kick someones ar$e.

Joking.... I'm not really reading Dostoevsky...

Well I read somewhere that there is more red hair people in Scotland per-se than in any other country in the world, hence why willie in the Simpson's has red hair. The Irish and Scottish have the same ancestral family tree so there is most probably a lot of red hair people in Ireland too.
There is also the joke, what do Scottish people do when they fist arrive in a country? start a business.
What do the welsh do when they first arrive in a new country? start a choir.
What do the English do when they first arrive in a country? start garden parties.
Now this is the bit everyone has been waiting for, what do the Irish do when they first arrive in a new country? start a fight. You always do what your best at.

You know, there aren't many so called Scots, Irish, Welsh and English people who can search back in their ancestry and find true connections with those races. Today many people can only trace their nationality back a few generations. This is due to movement during the industrial revolution when people had to travel to find work. I believe, because we are all so close to each other, that our national identities mean so much to us. My own ancestry- Scottish Great great grandparents (Paternal) Welsh Grandparents (Paternal) English Parents. I always support the English first in Rugby and then the Welsh. My Scottish family name is McDougall, my Welsh family name is Morgan. I wish I could wave a magic wand and undo any past injustices that are still held against us today.

The Sots are more intelligent as we have invented the phone, the first T.V and the first computer. Come on us. The English have done eeeemmm Oh you invented football, and i truly thank your people for that.

English are from England. Scottish are from Scottland. Irish are from Ireland.

Englishman are always stereotyped in being elite, extravagantly boring with bad teeth, and have some issue with Queen Elizabeth. The men are usually associated with something quaint , and are dark brunette with beatiful blue eyes and an English accent.

Scottish are always associated with having really red beards, kilts, and bag pipes.

Irish are always typecast as Leprechans, always wearing green, and getting drunk all the time.

Please don't feel insulted, but that's how some people in society culture in the U.S. stereotype them with, and it's not very nice.

Because I know that everybody is equal.
