In all probability the Heater Matrix is blocked, or the thermostat is not working,if you have a temp gauge does it move a quarter to half way up the scale, within one mile of starting from cold, if not replace the thermostat, make sure the coolant is at the correct level.
to attempt to flush the matrix remove both pipes from the heater and affix a hose pipe to one pipe, and turn on water slowly, standing out of the way, increase the pressure gradually weather you get a flow or not, then try it the opposite way round, if this fails you must decide if you want to risk putting an air line on it and trying to clear it with compressed air, however you run the risk of wrecking the matrix if it is old and corroded, you must decide what risks you want to take, however it's no good if it won't work, if the worst happens, you can join the two heater hoses together with a short length of metal pipe (internally) you can still drive the car until you get a replacement heater matrix, in reality you'll still be driving the car with no heater working ,Fords are somewhat notorious for this problem

I fixed my sister's Metro heater by back flushing the cabin radiator with a garden hose and then flushing the entire system and running "Radclean" through it. Finally I refilled the system with the correct blend of water and coolant, ran the system to blow out the airlocks into the expansion tank and topped off with hot water and coolant.

I told my sister to check the coolant level the next morning when the engine was cold and top up the coolant level in the expansion tank if necessary.

A garage had given her an unrealistic quote of several hundred pounds ex VAT to do the work.

You need to drain the radiator and let all the water flow out. then you get a garden hose and hook it up to the radiator out or the engine inlet pipe. with the hose on make water flows through your car. with the hose acting as a new water inlet turn the car on and let the motor run with fresh water flowing through it for like 4-5 min or untill all old fluid is gone. then reconnect the hose and all air should be drained. o yea fill up with radiator fluid too. this si a good time to replace any hoses that need replacing.

good luck

Fill your coolant to the top of the radiator, start and run the car with the radiator cap off, when the car warms up you should see the coolant flowing through the radiator, fill to the top again... replace radiator cap, turn off engine..... your done.
