Why is it that so many Christians use the toilet papers instead of washing themselves?

Question

some say it's a religuos thing. some say they smell like rot cheese. some say they don't because they take a lot of showers. some say they never wash in USA, except in rich families.

it's a serious matter. i was afraid of going to usa because of guantanamo, now i'm more scared! in arab muslim countries there must be some kind of shower for bottoms after using the toilet. my american cosin told me they don't know that.

i'm ignorant that's why i am asking. i mean no disrespect to any human. i always defended christians, i never noticed any smell. but one christian person told my freind it's religous, i still dont belive it that's why i'm asking. in the states they told me there are no water hoses in public toilets, they put some water on toilet papers and that's it. even my cosin got this habbit after living for years there. in regular houses there are no "pedaihs" the water wash for bottoms. it's just a question.

but when you don't clean your bottom well, think of all the jerms on your bottom carying them until the next shower. something i love about arab and muslim scholars is that they are not a shame of discussing any issue and they don't hate there bodies as many christians seem to be.

ofcourse you wash your left hand, the one used, with soap afterward. i can see your points, but still i think our way could seem more digusting but it's more clean.

you can't clean dishs with toilet papers, you need running water. same thing for butts. i only use toilet papers to dry up and be sure i'm clean. does julia roberts wipe!!!

I just got back from Egypt, and used the "bottom shower" while I was there. I got back to the USA and there is no "bottom shower". Really, I was used it it and felt cleaner. Before, I thought it might be weird, but I thought it was better to use than smear any thing with toliet paper and not be clean.

I have no idea why christians do that. i think it is more cultural than religious. Really.

What the hell are you talking about? Toilet paper is an "in addition to" not an "instead of" washing. Most (non disgusting) people shower once a day, and everyone I have ever known uses toilet paper because...well, what else are you supposed to do with it? Use your hand? That's so nasty.

BTW, I am both a Christian and born in the USA. Only homeless people don't bathe/shower often here, and that's a lack of options, not a choice.

It is not only the particular community and religion that uses toilet paper instead of washing themselves. this habit is every where where there is shortage of water to drink or the weather is too cold to use the water to wash themselves or it is the height of laziness because they have to wash their hands with soap and water after cleaning their bottom with water so that they do not smell of rotten cheese . It also has nothing to do with richness and taking a lot of showers.As health is wealth so is cleanliness is next to godliness.If you are clean at heart and sole& body God will accept you as you are.

wel, ur question is kinda gross. It's not just Christians who use the toilet papers instead of washing themselves, but anybody who feels disgusted or doesnt want to wash themselves. I can't believe i'm talking bout such a gross thing. Newayz, u never knw what people are really doing in the bathrooms and don't bother to find out. And there are other religions than Christianity in the USA, just so you know. lol, u r a funny person, got guts to ask such a question.

As Jazira reported.. generlaising. All human beings are diverse, same with another nationality in the international. some human beings wash after utilising the rest room and some do not. a useless ringer for all different nationalities. Even human beings in 0.33 international international locations... some will wash after utilising the rest room and some received't. Does that answer your question?

You are trying to appear to be or are Muslim because when you say Christians youare referring to Americans as a whole group. Some Americans are not Christians. As far as wiping you bottom goes toilet paper works just fine. We don't smell like crap afterwards and we shower when we are through working before bed. Some shower early in the morning before work and some shower before work and after work before going to bed.

it's a western (read: all english speaking countries of the world) tradition to use toilet paper. Not christian. Western. We wash ourselves daily as a rule. we do not 'smell".

what you're saying cuts deep. what you're saying is racist. what you're saying is a leftover from intolerance and ignorance which is a thing of the past, especially in such a global climate.

how about visiting one of the countries you are describing?
how about being less intolerant of those you don't know?
How about getting smart and doing some reading or talking to people who are aware of what's going on in the rest of the world??

Don't you know that the practise of using toilet paper is followed by persons of all religions. It has nothing to do Christianity. Yes it is a practise that originated in the western world but everyone from the west is not christian.

The way even the poorest Christians do is:
If you Pee, you use tissue paper (female)
If you defecate, you use tissue paper (female&male)
By using tissue paper I mean you wipe, you are clean.
The poorest Chirstians, bathe daily, sometimes twice daily. Most of us shower twice daily.
If your for real: You have been so mis-informed.
