Why can't people on Yahoo Answers spell?

I've been reading a lot of posts on Yahoo Answers and it seems as though most people cannot spell. The spelling of most of the posts I've seen is truly terrible. The posts where the person can spell properly are a very small percentage compared to the posts where the spelling is terrible. Why is that? Has the education system in our country become that bad? Any thoughts? Thanks

Well, a lot of the people who use Yahoo Answers are originally from other countries and English is not their first language. Others are pretty young or may not be good typists. Though there may be some that just can't spell :P. Anyway, if you don't like the way they type, just don't read their questions, if you can help it lol.

They're mostly lazy and poorly educated young dumbsters. Yes, schools are pretty bad, but it's mostly because they've been overrun by liberals.

Also, the Internet and text messaging have encouraged a lack of writing skill.

Because Yahoo Answers is a informal environment or some do it just to annoy Spelling Nazi's. Take your grammer facism somewhere else. (I didn't spell check this HAHAHA)

um, it's not that people can't spell, it's just that they have shrunk the words into shorter syllable so that it's faster to type and get the point across. but probably some of the yahoo answer participants really can't spell.

Yes. I concur. I believe due to the advent of spell check mixed with the laziness of not using spell check. Yes. There you go.
