Yea I would like reparations. My family owned over 100 slaves and almost were bank rupted buy the government taking out property. I feel we should get paid for our loss.

It's funny how people are under the impression that slavery was unique to the United States. Slavery was present in most countries in the world that ever existed at one time or another. While slavery is an evil practice, nevertheless it was an institution in many places over the centuries.
There are very few nations in the world, if any, who have never been subjected to it. If we made reparations for every nation who ever had the institution of slavery, we would never get that mess sorted out.
Those were dark times. Nations, including the U.S, have overcome it. Put a tombstone on it, and let it be buried forever. Why keep bringing up the past?

There is no need for reparations. Blacks and whites go to the same schools, read from the same books, and are taught by the same teachers. If any child fails to get an education, it's their own damned fault.
People, quit blaming everyone but the person who ought to be blamed for your failures.
I'm white. Never owned a slave, nor, would I care to. My family's been traced back to late 1600's early 1700's in Virginia, guess what? Nary a slave owner in the direct line. We farmed our own lands and took care of our own. We're not rich folks by any means, but, nobody's wanting for anything, and we've gotten our success by working for it, and not asking for handouts. I think that others should do the same.

I really can't stand this crap, the whole white/black issue. I'd rather work, struggle even, to make a living rather than demand reparations from a generation that had nothing to do with slavery. We should not punish white people and demand that they give us anything just because their ancestors owned slaves hundreds of years ago. Minorities keep pushing for "equality", well if we'd act as equals and get educations and jobs instead of sitting around complaining that the white man has some type of advantage over us, we wouldn't be viewed as lazy and ignorant. And besides, immigrants get more welfare than anyone, even the illegal ones. Most of them come to this country for the sole purpose of leeching off of our welfare system. This country has created its own problems, racially and economically.

"I'm so glad that you never had to hear your grandmother tell you of the time when she witnessed her brother being bashed, urinated on, tied to a tree upside down naked, then set on fire by white men wearing hoods to mask their faces."
What does this have to do with me paying having to pay guilt money for slavery reparations?
"We are living through our forefathers and reaping the benefits of their work, why not the granchildren/ancestors of slaves? A great portion of the US was made from the sweat of their brow...why shouldn't they reap the benefits as well?"
How? Slavery enriched only a few rich plantation owners. The average White American in those days either farmed their own land or were working in factories in the North which treated their workers much WORSE than slaves were treated.
The grandchildren and ancestors of slaves are living off the same fruits of work you claim that slaves built.
What about reparations for how whites treated Irish immigrants to the United States?
Hypocrite.
"Those were dark times. Nations, including the U.S, have overcome it. Put a tombstone on it, and let it be buried forever. Why keep bringing up the past?"
Good question with obvious answer. Whites who were slaves or otherwise mistreated MOVED ON. Blacks forever have a victim mentality that prevent them from wanting to succeed and instead they want to be parasites and passive aggressive victims of their own delusions and inabilities.

Reparations where have been all paid out. Welfare, HUD, social security to those who never worked, food stamps, medical and lets not forget the cost of crime and punishment. The ***** gets back a lot more than they pay in and it has been that way since the 60's. It is time to cut them off completely. Sink or swim but knowing them, they'll take down the innocent with them.

Unfortunately, slavery has been a part of our history just as it has been for most of the world. It is time to get over it. I am white and some of my ancestor were from the Boston area and were part of the underground railroad. I worked for Civil Rights and yet some ignorant blacks still treat me as an enemy. Sometimes I think the tribes in Africa sent us all of their outlaws, so they could avoid making prisons.

Maybe we can start looking at the point that without African slavery in the Americas, we wouldn't be enjoying jazz, blues, soul, rock, son, cha cha cha, samba, bossa nova, salsa, and all good music...think positive...be proud
