I use well water in my aquariums, and I"ve had some interesting organisms show up in there(probably from snails, plants, and/or the fish I put in there). but,I am curioius and would just like to know if anyone else has used well water and what the effects of it were. Thanks all!!

i have used well water since i moved to the country and i have never had anything "pop up" so to speak.. But do you have a proficient filter on you well pipe .. if not that could be a problem but that far down you shouldn't be discovering anything from the water source. It could be from new plants and new fish. also if you are introducing decorations from out of doors you could be bringing things on with the decoration. hope that helps

I was renting a house from a friend awhile back. She had her tank holder(I don't know what they're called, an aerator maybe?) covered with this big huge plastic thing and a brick on top. The stupid chickens were hanging out on top of it she said, and most likely pooping in it....I stuck to bottled water lol.

Yes, I did use the well water for my fish tanks. It was fine, no problems with it. Saved lots of money not having to use a dechlorinator.

Do people drink this opposum-tainted, rotting snail and god-knows-what-else water? Is it somehow purified first? I think I'll stick to the chlorine! lol!

The strangest thing we found in our cistern/well water was a decomposing opossum.
