Here is what happens normally. On a site when you delete accounts you normally have to wait 6 months to get the name back. That is why Yahoo has Alias ID. You can get another ID but the mail will come to the same site as the original ID. If you open up another account then you would get your own mail account and stuff. But I have never heard of orkut and they may have different rules.

Googled orkut and so it is googles version of myspace.com or facebook.com
