I don't want it to seem like I'm trying to upstage the bridal party.

Yes it is improper, as it is for a woman to wear black to a wedding or to wear white which of course is the bride's color.

Yes unless it is extremely formal and it is expected. If youre still not sure, ask someone who is going to the same wedding. They would know the feel of it and maybe get an idea of how the bride and groom would feel about it.

no its not weird but if u wear it u will feeel weird try going for a nice suit just as cool as dashing as the tux but not so totally formal...if u know any one of the couple even a tiny bit that'll go fine
if u have to wear a tux,tone it down and dont wear it to the exact matching description of "THE tux"

I don't think it's improper but maybe a little too much.
Tux is normally for the groom & grooms men and such.
Perhaps ask the couple if it's okay?

its not improper but I wouldnt do it... although if you had nothing else..lose the cumberbun and change the shirt... try differnt things to down play it a little ... after all its his day not yours!
