(i don't want mozilla or firefox. I want to keep using internet explorer)

Remove and reinstall the IE 7. If using beta remove it and download and install the FINAL version. If still run Windows Update. And dont use the cracks thing to install IE 7. It crashes the installation.
Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Netspace are much superior and recommended to IE 7.

Uninstall and reinstall the latest version, that may solve the "unknown problem". If you have the beta version of IE7, it's not supposed to work properly.
If you don't like Firefox, you could try Opera (http://www.opera.com). Both are far superior to IE.
