I have found those who support the war always talk about dying as a necessary evil. There were no compassion for those who were displaced or killed by the war.

To start a war based on one person and results in tens of thousands being killed and millions being displaced and a country in turmoil, not to mention the financial burden on the US and destruction to Iraq, is in no way justified.

If oil was not the issue but freeing a nation is, then why isn't America invading N. Korea yet?

can you people imagine ,
If the world would completely isolate us. If every country threatened us at the same time. Kicked out all American citizens from every country and stopped all trade with the us at the same time.
What would it be like a year later?
What would people start acting like toward each other in the US.?
Would they steal each-others food ?
Would the military isolate it self from civilians?
Would cops come to help the middle class?
Who out of the people you call your friends now, would come to help you?

I would not like living in Iraq now that there is a war between several nations not only the USA but other nations. I would not like living in Iraq even before the USA stepped in. There has been a civil war in Iraq for many, many years, ever since Jesus Christ walked on this earth. That’s if you believe he ever walked on this earth. Since they started the civil war among themselves, they did not cry out the other half wants our oil… So why use that tactic now.. Think… there is a greater picture..
You say the war was started based in 1 person…you and I were not alive way back when they first started their civil war.. It has been going on for years, and years. Sure I will admit the USA got involved but it is only one nation out of others that also are involved. Go tell every person that died in those 2 towers that only 1 person was at fault.. Many families were affected and many people died.
Each country has to take steps in defending their best interest. That country should have known that their people were going to attack the USA.. They should have better laws in which to discourage all the killing but it has gone on for too long. Their civil war that spilled into the country of USA. The other countries also have their interest to protect , they also have people from their nation that died in those towers.
You say it is in no way justified to start a war based on 1 person and you are correct, but this is based on many persons. You are also correct to have compassion. There are many nations involved and they do not threaten to nuke that country.
No one likes war. No one wants it in their country or there steps. You and I would not like someone crashing a plane in our back yard. None of the families who lost loved ones wanted their families to die. Where is the compassion for them. The USA embassy in that country receives many letters asking for help all the time from ordinary citizens. Is it fair to them that no one helps them. Forgetting the nukes and the oil.. Is it fair to them or will it get better now… that is what is better, so there will be no more war…

I wouldn't like to live in Iraq now or before this war. There has been war there for hundreds of years and it is a very hard place to live.
This war did not start because of one person. The press and others want to blame President Busch for all of this and the facts show that for our country and the United Nations to not intervene and try to stop the cruelty that has been imposed on these poor helpless people would be inhumane. Look at the history facts and see how they suffered under that government and the death they have had to endure.
War is hell there are no easy answers to these problems. I hate to see anyone die anywhere. There has been enough death already the death of our soldiers, the death of the young boys drug out of their homes and shot, the death of the poor people poisoned, the death of civilians in the tower. If we don't make these terrorist realize that we will retaliate who will they kill next? Look what they do in their own backyards to innocent people. Do not abandon our troops that are over there and not support them, its hard to be there away from their families and homes. They need us to pray for peace and stand tall and proud that we are Americans.

I am in Iraq, right now.

Those who have been displaced and killed have been by their own people. There have been more Iraqis killed by Iraqis and insurgents than by Coalition Forces.

To say that the war was based on one person is absolute CRAP. This was not just Bush's assessment but of nearly all of Congress and the world, too. You're not being truthful.

NK is no threat and is fully contained by China and South Korea. Iraq was a threat, not as an invading army but as a conduit for terror. Not to mention the obvious fact that Saddam lied to the UN, cheated the UN on the Oil for Food scandal, and continued his attacks on Coalition Forces after signing the treaty to end the Gulf War.

Well I've known since the late 70s that nobody in their right mind wanted to live in Iraq. Every journey begins with one step.

About regime change in Iraq, chalk that one up to President Bill Clinton, 31 Oct 1998 is when he signed the Iraq Liberation Act. http://www.library.cornell.edu/colldev/mideast/libera.htm

Didja know that the US Revolution began 1776 and ended mmm about 1814?

The ultimate irony of the war in Iraq is that Saddam's government was secular while the new government is Islamic.

So a good chunk of the refugees from Iraq have been Christian - those who have come under persecution by the new Islamic police.

Just for a another bit of irony, guess where they've been principally running to? Good old secular Syria - one of Bush's next targets. Yep, those Baathists may not be much on democracy, but they do believe in freedom of religion. Obviously protecting middle eastern Christians like those in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon (or Israel, for that matter) is not very high on Bush's list.

America, all powerful! Or just a house of cards?
What should the World do when one nation disregards
All standards of behaviour, holds itself above the law
And believes it is the greatest that mankind ever saw?
A trial of strength we can ill afford
But remember the old saying: “If you live by the sword…”

Oil as a power-tool? Now that is interesting!
It could probably be utilised intelligently to bring
The Monster to its senses or if need be to its knees
To plead for its life-blood: “I beg you please!
Don’t leave me like this! I might thirst to death!
I promise to be really good until my last breath!”
And if you don’t behave, we’ll turn off the taps
And watch with Arab patience until you collapse
How long would it take before you slowed to a crawl?
That’s difficult to say but when you had exhausted all
Your emergency stockpiles and hoarded energy stores
Joy to the World for that would stop you starting wars!

What a strange question. Who would "like" to live in Iraq? Heck who would "like" to live in New Orleans on Aug. 29, 2005. It's not something one would "like" to do. The difference between you and those who support the war, is that we're "willing" to live in Iraq for the betterment of our society. Our volunteer military is "willing" to get shot at to try to stabalize a nation that has been spiraling downward for years. And if someone told me tomorrow I had to live in Iraq, I'd pack my bags, my sunscreen and my ammunition. I might not "like" it, but I'd be "willing" to do it for the love of my country.

I find it funny that everyone got up on a soap box ranting about the first Bush stopping too early and not going in to get Saddam.

Now since the second Bush goes on in and gets saddam and the same people are crying about it.
Everyone was pretty proud and happy until things turned bad.
Be happy that you can hate the president in this country and he doesnt come and get you in the middle of the night and torture you.

For those who support pacifism or non-violence, how would you like to go to Iraq right now and test out your theories?

Come on, go show us how to "love" the terrorists into submission.
